I like this question. And the answers. Personally, without much thought, I give Kurt Godel credit for greatest idea with his Incompleteness Theory (or two). I think modernity is a lot about incompleteness, and expands from there. Equality of incompleteness across everything. Relativity, Incompleteness, Uncertainty. Our new trinity in a way. Meaninglessness, the Beholder/Observer, Great Futility. And yet, in this groundlessness, we create our own new fresh meaning and identity. Even bigger and better than borrowed meaning and identity, it turns out. Thinkers rail against belief in God, give their lives for independence and equality with others, and prove that the universe is made out of nothingness. The modern age is pretty awesome.
